Donabate / Portrane Secondary School gets the go-ahead - 8th November 2006

I am delighted to announce that Minister for Education & Science - Mary Hanafin T.D. has approved the go-ahead for the Donabate / Portrane Secondary School project. I am happy to have supported the Secondary School Committee, the Parish Council and the Parents and teachers of the local national schools and I congratulate each for the their on-going commitment to this project.

Residents can be assured that having made the strongest representations to Fingal County Council for the provision of a free site for this new school, I will now be requesting the VEC to establish the new school in a temporary location pending the construction of the new permanent school building. I know this news will be welcomed locally and the long commuting journey to outside schools in 2008 be a thing of the past for local children.
