Lusk school gets new building & two more given thumbs up for extension - Kennedy (April 2007)

Dublin North General Election candidate Cllr Michael Kennedy (FF) has revealed that three local schools are to benefit from a new modernisation program, with one, Baile Falbach National School in Lusk, getting the thumbs up for a new school.

Cllr Kennedy said: "Baile Falbach NS is one of just 11 schools nationally to be provided with a new school, which will be welcome to the parents in Lusk who have concerns about the state of the existing school, and its scope for expansion."

"Other schools to benefit from the scheme are St Andrew's National School in Malahide and Rush National School, both of which are to be provided with extensions, which should allow a greater intake of pupils in the future."

"The first key steps for all schools now will be to appoint an architectural team to oversee the works. Minister Hanafin has assured me that the intention is for a standard, generic plan is to be used in most works, allowing the works to be provided in within the earliest timeframe."

"I not only welcome the news that North Dublin has been included in these new works, but I am grateful that an area most in need of further educational infrastructure is being developed."

Cllr Kennedy said: "Having worked hard to campaign for more schooling in this area, I am striving to ensure that children and staff in our schools have facilities which are suitable for their growing needs. These projects should not only benefit those children and staff, but the wider community," Cllr Kennedy concluded.
